Once Removed is looking for dancers!
Audition: Thursday, January 21st from 12:30-2pm.
Once Removed is a professional contemporary dance company whose focus is traditional American and English dance. Dances in the repertoire are drawn from contra dance, English dance, traditional longsword dance and rapper sword dance. The repertoire is at times traditional, at times contemporary, and at times somewhere in between. Please have a look at some of our past work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KB8MBNMg1ZM
We are currently working on a new sword dance show for a summer festival tour, and for performances and workshops in the schools.
Dancers must be able to commit through until the end of August, 2010.
Rehearsals are Thursdays 12:30-2:30 with additional biweekly weekend or weeknight rehearsals to be confirmed. Positions are currently volunteer based with the guarantee of performance experience.
Applicants should be trained in contemporary dance and have a strong interest in improvisation. An interest in learning about the tradition of sword dancing is a must, but no experience is necessary. Tap or step dancing is an asset.
