Contemporary dance meets mobile clubbing. Surprise and spectacle erupt in unexpected locations as dance celebrates and illuminates pedestrian places.
Four teams of dancers perform in 30 minute sets in a 12 hour relay as they cross the city overnight. Performing to a soundtrack broadcast on portable radios, audience in proximity can listen in.
More than 30 dancers drawn from the city's independent professional community, York Dance Ensemble (Susan Cash, Artistic Director) - York University, with pre-professional and recreational youth dancers participate in Gettin' Through The Night.
Stand Up Dance always seeks to engage the audience in interesting ways.
"Off the wall, impossible to categorize, fun." Montreal Gazette.
"dance like no one is watching" breaks the fourth wall, putting dance in the streets and amid the public.

Creator Meagan O’Shea began "dance like no one is watching" in the summer of 2007 as a way to practice performing without a show. Since its guerrilla roots "dance like no one is watching" has evolved into an ensemble project focusing on dancers improvising together to create enticing choreographies as they perform.
“One of the city’s most engaging artists” (Toronto Star), Meagan O'Shea caught the attention of the public and critics alike with her interdisciplinary performances featuring interactive installations "first kissed" and "something blue". By offering tangible interaction, these performances expanded audience experience and led to the initial conceptualization of "dance like no one is watching", an interactive street performance where active audience participation is required to listen in.
The professional dancers participating in the project are: Laura Bolander, Julie Grant, Amy Hampton, Savannah Hoag, Hannah Naiman, Mirae Rosner, Heather Saum.
Hope to see you there!
